The Music Festival
Which Changed The World

The Woodstock Music Festival of 1969

The event was first publicized as the Woodstock Music and Art Fair. The Woodstock Music Festival was three days of peace, love and rock 'n' roll in upstate New York.  It had much more meaning than hippies gathering around to party.

It was a cultural experience.  It was the grooviest event in Music History.  People came from all over to watch the musicians perform.  Vendors sold crafts and vietnam war protesters spoke about the war.  It was a cultural experience of the troubled decade.  There were big names at the concert such as Santana, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Blood Sweat & Tears, Joan Baez, Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin.

There were so many acts that they had to construct multiple stages to accommodate all the performers who wanted to partake in this once in a lifetime event. Musicians who performed remember it forever and the ones who did not, regretted it forever.

The entire woodstock music festival is remembered as a cultural event which ended the troubled decade of war, hippies and peace protests.  Many people look back at this huge gathering which made a statement to the world.

Other woodstock events were put on years later but the Original Woodstock is the one which everyone still talks about.
